FryerMiles visits The Institute of Cancer Research
It was a proud moment for FryerMiles recently when Leo Miles and Joe Bradley were invited to visit The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) HQ.
The pair made their visit to present a fundraising cheque for an amazing total of £5020.07 – money raised in support of Leo and Theresa’s London Marathon achievement in April this year.
They were then taken on a tour of the facility by Dr Marco Gerlinger, a leader in the field of bowel cancer research and in particular molecular pathology, which tracks the evolution of cancer cells within tumours.
Leo, who was inspired to support the charity after witnessing first-hand the devastating effect that a cancer diagnosis can have, commented:
“It was an incredibly humbling experience to tour the facility and see the amazing work that ICR do. I was so proud to be able to present them with our fundraising cheque which will support them on their journey to helping more people fight their battle, and win. They rely heavily on fundraising and donations; and we are so grateful to everyone for their generosity in helping us to raise funds for a cause so very close to our hearts.”
Co-Director, Joe Bradley, who visited the facility with Leo earlier this month, added:
“We are extremely appreciative to ICR for taking the time to show around the facility, it was overwhelming to see the research labs and learn about how they are expanding their knowledge in to the disease and making the ground-breaking discoveries to change the way it is treated. Our thanks to Dr Marco Gerlinger and the ICR team for accommodating us and making it a visit we will never forget.”
